Ella Langley’s ‘Choosin’ Texas’ Extends Record to 24th Week Atop the Hot 100

MusicElla Langley's 'Choosin' Texas' Extends Record to 24th Week Atop the Hot 100

Ella Langley’s “Choosin’ Texas” extended its record run atop the Billboard Hot 100, holding the top spot for a 24th week on the chart dated Sept. 28, 2026. The country single had already made history the previous week, when it passed Mariah Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas Is You” to become the longest-running No. 1 in the chart’s history. Carey’s holiday standard had spent 22 weeks at the summit, a total built up across several years. Langley’s song has now stretched two weeks beyond that mark, and it shows little sign of loosening its grip.

The single first reached No. 1 in February 2026, roughly four months after its release in October 2025. It returned to the top through the spring and settled into an uninterrupted run beginning in early July. Along the way it eclipsed the 19-week totals shared by Lil Nas X’s “Old Town Road” and Shaboozey’s “A Bar Song (Tipsy),” which had stood as the previous benchmarks for longevity at the top of the all-genre chart.

“Choosin’ Texas” appears on Langley’s second studio album, “Dandelion,” which debuted at No. 1 on both the Billboard 200 and the Top Country Albums chart. The record also produced the single “Be Her,” which climbed to No. 2 on the Hot 100, giving Langley a second song near the top of the chart during the year. The title track “Dandelion” added another entry as the album rolled out.

The song has piled up large numbers across streaming and social platforms, with more than 1.6 billion global streams and 2.8 billion views on TikTok, according to figures reported by Billboard. It also set a record for the longest-running No. 1 on UK country radio, part of a run that carried across several international markets. Drake teased a remix that interpolates the song’s chorus, which added to its visibility during the summer.

The extended stay has fueled debate among chart watchers about how a single track can dominate for half a year in an era of splintered listening habits. Langley broke through in 2024 with the duet “You Look Like You Love Me” alongside Riley Green, and she has spent much of 2026 touring behind the album. Whether the song can pad its total further will depend on the strength of new releases entering the chart this fall.
