Prime Video held the premiere of its ‘Carrie’ miniseries in New York City on Sept. 28, gathering the cast on a red carpet ahead of the show’s streaming release. Samantha Sloyan and Summer H. Howell arrived together for the event, which introduced the new adaptation of Stephen King’s novel to guests and photographers before its debut on the platform. The premiere served as the production’s main public showcase in the city.

The limited series draws on King’s ‘Carrie,’ an early work by the author that has been adapted for the screen several times over the years. Prime Video has scheduled the miniseries to arrive on Oct. 7, which made the New York premiere the last major promotional stop before subscribers can stream it. Its place in the fall lineup gives Prime Video a genre title heading into the season. The carpet gave the production a chance to present its principal cast in person days before that release.

Alongside Sloyan and Howell, the premiere drew Alison Thornton and Matthew Lillard, both part of the ensemble. Cast members stopped for photographers as they made their way inside, and individual arrivals were captured along the carpet. Sloyan and Howell were pictured together at the start of the evening as the guests filed in. The New York setting placed the launch in one of the industry’s main media markets, days before the wider rollout to subscribers.

The Prime Video project joins a long line of screen versions of ‘Carrie,’ taking the form of a serialized adaptation rather than a single feature film. The miniseries structure gives the source novel room to develop across several episodes, which will be available to subscribers when the series lands in October. The premiere offered an early look at the cast behind that version.

The Sept. 28 event closed the in-person promotion in New York and left the Oct. 7 streaming date as the next marker for the series. Cast members used the carpet to mark the moment before the adaptation reaches a general audience. For Prime Video, the premiere worked as the public send-off for one of its fall titles ahead of its arrival on the service.
