John Mayer will play a six-night residency at the Sphere in Las Vegas in April 2027, the singer and guitarist announced on Instagram on September 28. The run places Mayer among the marquee acts booked into the high-technology venue, which has built its live music calendar around extended residencies since opening in 2023. UPI reported the announcement the same day.

Mayer set the residency for April 8, 10, 11, 15, 17 and 18, 2027, and said the shows would move through three formats over the course of the run. “Meet me where the light is… I’ll be playing six nights at @spherelasvegas -solo, full band and trio,” he wrote. “I can’t wait to show you what I’m putting together. See you at Sphere.” The post did not spell out how the formats would be split across the six dates.

Tickets will go on sale in October, according to the announcement. An artist presale is scheduled to begin October 7 at 1 p.m. ET, with general public sales opening October 9 at 1 p.m. ET. Mayer listed no ticket prices in the post and did not indicate whether additional dates could be added if demand warranted. The residency model lets an artist sell several nights in a single market rather than mounting a longer road trip.

The Sphere opened in September 2023 with a residency by U2 and has since become a fixture of the Las Vegas live entertainment business, drawing acts that tailor their productions to the venue’s wraparound interior screen. Mayer has performed inside the building before, appearing there in 2024 and 2025 as the guitarist for Dead & Company, whose own Sphere runs helped establish the room as a destination for long engagements. Acts including the Eagles have also staged residencies at the venue since it opened.

The April dates will mark Mayer’s first Sphere residency billed under his own name. A Grammy-winning musician known for songs such as “Gravity” and “Daughters,” he has balanced a solo career with his role in Dead & Company, the group built around former members of the Grateful Dead. The booking adds another established touring artist to a venue that has leaned on recognizable names to fill its calendar. Further details on the production had not been announced.
