The Prince and Princess of Wales are now at Balmoral with the King and Queen, arriving at the Royal Family’s Scottish residence to join the traditional summer gathering. William and Kate, together with their three children, are spending several days at the estate with King Charles and Queen Camilla.

According to Hello!, the family arrived on August 20. Alongside 13-year-old Prince George, 11-year-old Princess Charlotte and 8-year-old Prince Louis, the couple will spend several days in the Highlands, with the children due back at school in early September.

Other members of the wider family were already in residence. Mike and Zara Tindall were seen at Balmoral with Peter Phillips and his family watching the official welcome ceremony for King Charles as he formally took up residence at his Scottish home, one of the set-piece moments that opens the monarch’s annual stay.

The welcome ceremony is a long-standing tradition marking the King’s arrival at Balmoral each summer, and this year drew several generations of the family together in Scotland. With the Wales children present, the gathering had the relaxed, multi-generational feel that has come to define the royals’ Highland break.

For the Prince and Princess of Wales, the visit offers a stretch of private family time before the demands of the autumn schedule resume. The couple’s arrival, following the King and Queen’s own move north, effectively signalled that the family’s summer season at Balmoral was fully under way, with the estate once again serving as the backdrop for the year’s most informal royal gathering.
