The Biggest Takeaways, Surprises, and Snubs From the 2026 Emmy Nominations

TVThe Biggest Takeaways, Surprises, and Snubs From the 2026 Emmy Nominations

The 2026 Primetime Emmy nominations are in, and, as always, they arrive stuffed with jaw-dropping surprises and a few genuinely infuriating snubs. The stakes feel higher this year as television says goodbye to beloved shows like The Bear and Hacks, welcomes new heavy hitters such as Widow’s Bay and Margo’s Got Money Troubles, and finally bids farewell to Euphoria.

No one who watches television will be shocked that HBO powerhouses The Pitt and Hacks dominated the field, with 25 and 24 nominations respectively.

Hacks, fresh off its fifth and final season, broke the record for the most nominations for a comedy series in a single year — a mark previously shared by The Bear and The Studio, each with 23, in 2024 and 2025.

The acting races mix the expected with the exciting: Hannah Einbinder landed a Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy nod for Hacks and Ayo Edebiri a Best Lead Actress in a Comedy nod for The Bear, while newcomers Kate O’Flynn (Widow’s Bay) and Elle Fanning (Margo’s Got Money Troubles) broke into the comedy categories.

With the ceremony set for September, the nominations have already reshaped this year’s awards conversation — rewarding some long-running favorites on their way out while opening the door to a new class of contenders.
