Tove Lo, the Swedish singer and songwriter, has spent recent years working on her own terms, releasing music through an independent setup after years on a major label. The approach has given her room to shape her sound and visuals.
Known for a candid songwriting style, she first drew wide attention with an early hit that crossed over internationally, and has since built a catalogue that mixes pop hooks with a darker, more personal edge.
Beyond her own records, she has written for other artists, part of a wider Swedish songwriting tradition that has quietly powered a large share of global pop.
Her career reflects a path taken by several Scandinavian artists who have used the freedom of independence to keep creative control while still reaching a broad audience.
