MusicThe Wombats Plan Anniversary Tour Playing Their Debut Album in Full

The Wombats will play their debut album A Guide To Love, Loss & Desperation from start to finish on a UK and European tour next April. The ten dates celebrate 20 years since the 2007 record, which contains Let’s Dance to Joy Division, Kill the Director and Moving to New York. Each show will be followed by a second set of hits and fan favourites from later albums.

The run opens in Paris at Le Trianon on 1 April 2027, then visits Cologne, Berlin, Munich, Amsterdam and Antwerp. The UK leg begins at O2 Victoria Warehouse in Manchester on 10 April and continues to O2 Academy Glasgow on 13 April and O2 Academy Brixton in London on 16 April. It closes at the Arts Club in Liverpool, the band’s home city, on 18 April. The Snuts, Cherryholt, Abbie McCarthy and Filip Clements will provide support.

A pre-sale opens on Wednesday 14 October, with general sale through Ticketmaster from 9am BST on Friday 16 October. Drummer Dan Haggis said the debut grew out of the band’s first four years, when they toured the UK in his grandmother’s car and slept on promoters’ floors. Frontman Matthew “Murph” Murphy said each show would be “a special night to remember”.

The album sold more than 400,000 copies in the UK and turned the trio into one of the country’s best-known indie groups. It was followed by This Modern Glitch in 2011, Glitterbug in 2015, Beautiful People Will Ruin Your Life in 2018 and Fix Yourself, Not the World in 2022. Their latest record, Oh! The Ocean, reached No. 4 on the UK Official Albums Chart after its release in February 2025.

The band’s profile has also been lifted by unexpected moments online. Mick Jagger shared a video of himself dancing to Techno Fan in 2019, shortly after heart surgery, which led to The Wombats opening for The Rolling Stones at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey that year. More recently, a TikTok dance by Addison Rae set to the opening of Greek Tragedy brought the song to a new audience. Murphy has named the Royal Albert Hall and Glastonbury among the band’s career highlights. The anniversary shows give long-time fans a chance to hear the debut in sequence for the first time in many years.
