MusicYasin Becomes the First Scandinavian Rapper to Sign With Atlantic Records

Yasin has become the first Scandinavian rapper to sign with Atlantic Records, a landmark deal for one of the Nordic region’s most-streamed artists. His first single under the partnership, “Matadoren,” is already out.

The numbers behind the signing are considerable. Over his career Yasin has racked up more than two billion streams and collected 55 platinum and gold certifications, building the kind of independent track record that tends to draw major-label attention. Atlantic described him as “one of the most influential voices from the Nordic scene,” adding that he “has become a cultural voice” beyond music alone.

The deal also marks a turn in a turbulent stretch. His 2025 concert season was cancelled after security threats led organisers and police to halt his performances, and his return to the stage came at Norway’s Slottsfjell Festival in July 2026, shortly before the Atlantic announcement.

For a Nordic rap scene that has grown enormously over the past decade, a home-grown star crossing over to one of the most storied labels in American music is a notable moment. Whether it translates into a bigger international profile is the thing to watch, but the signing itself is a marker of how far the scene has come.
