Her aim is to identify and mitigate the privacy, security, and societal risks that emerge when data‑driven and AI‑enabled systems move from prototype to production, and to ensure that policy-based frameworks are translated into enforceable constraints in code, contracts, and day‑to‑day workflows.

Defining Digital Confidence

Modupe approaches the concept from the ground up. Asked how she thinks about her growing prominence, such as Stanford degrees, global fellowships, and a “40 Under 40 in Cybersecurity” recognition, she returns to duty rather than prestige. “If you’ve been given access to world‑class training, to policy tables, to the inside of the companies that shape the digital environment, then you don’t get to treat harms as abstractions,” she says. “The only real test of being an ‘architect of digital confidence’ is whether, years from now, ordinary people can move through AI‑driven systems without feeling watched, profiled, or powerless—and know that someone designed those systems with their dignity in mind.
