TVApple TV Sets Oct. 30 Debut for 'Nocturne' With Liev Schreiber, Stephen Graham

Apple TV has set an Oct. 30 premiere for “Nocturne,” a thriller starring Liev Schreiber and Stephen Graham, and released a first trailer for the series on Sept. 29. The show will open with two episodes on its debut date, then continue its run in the weeks that follow. Adapted from Lars Kepler’s novel “The Sandman,” it centers on a small-town detective drawn into a case involving an imprisoned serial killer whose crimes are far from finished.

Schreiber plays Jonah Lynn, a former soldier who becomes a homicide detective in a small Pennsylvania town. Graham plays Jurek Walter, the killer at the heart of the investigation, who continues to exert control from behind bars. The official summary frames the story around a wrenching choice: “When the desperate search for Jurek’s last missing victim forces Jonah to send his surrogate daughter FBI Agent Saga Bauer up against Jurek, how far will Jonah go?”

Zazie Beetz plays Saga Bauer, the FBI agent pulled into the case and positioned at the story’s emotional core. The supporting cast includes Bill Camp, Rory Culkin, Chrissy Metz, Poorna Jagannathan and Gary Carr. The lineup pairs film and television actors from several genres, backing a central standoff between Schreiber’s detective and Graham’s imprisoned suspect that runs through the series.

Rowan Joffe wrote the series and serves as showrunner and executive producer, working alongside John Hlavin. The adaptation moves Kepler’s Scandinavian source material to the United States, relocating the story to a rural American setting while keeping the cat and mouse structure that runs through the novel. Kepler, the pen name of a Swedish writing duo, has built a best-selling crime franchise that has been translated widely.

“Nocturne” adds to a growing Apple TV catalog of dark thrillers and limited dramas built around well-known leads. The two-episode launch on Oct. 30 gives the platform a title timed to the Halloween window, a slot streamers often use for horror-adjacent releases. Apple has not said how many episodes the full season will run, or whether the series is planned as a returning drama. The trailer served as the first public look at the project.
