Lana Del Rey Plays New Stove Single Live for the First Time in Singapore

MusicLana Del Rey Plays New Stove Single Live for the First Time in Singapore

Lana Del Rey gave the live premiere of White Feather Hawk Tail Deer Hunter during a headline set at the Formula 1 Singapore Grand Prix. The appearance was her first concert in almost a year. The song is taken from Stove, the country-leaning album she has been previewing for months without confirming a release date. The race weekend booking put her in front of a crowd that mixed dedicated fans with motorsport spectators.

The Singapore show ranged across her catalogue, with older favourites including Young and Beautiful, Video Games and Summertime Sadness. As at her recent concerts, the stage was dressed with a small house and porch. Backing dancers joined her, and she spent much of the performance seated on a swing. The set gave fans a mix of the singles that built her reputation and a first look at how the new material sits alongside them.

White Feather Hawk Tail Deer Hunter came out in February as the third taste of Stove. It is a sparse, haunting track that she wrote with her husband, her sister and her brother-in-law, and produced with her regular collaborator Jack Antonoff. Until Singapore it had not been played in front of an audience. Its first live outing came eight months after the studio version was released.

The album has had a winding path to completion. Del Rey first announced it in January 2024 under the title Lasso, later renamed it The Right Person Will Stay, and then settled on Stove. She has described it as her first full record rooted in country music. She has also said that an untitled companion album is on the way, and in an Instagram post she described both projects as among the most beautiful work she has made. The repeated name changes have kept fans guessing about the shape of the finished record.

Her most recent studio release remains Did You Know That There’s a Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd, which came out in 2023, so the wait for new material has now stretched past three years. Del Rey has not set a date for Stove or its companion record, and no further concerts were announced alongside the Singapore performance. For now the Grand Prix set offers the clearest sign yet that the new songs are ready to be played live. Any further live dates are likely to be watched closely for more new songs.
