Julianne Moore celebrated her son’s wedding at the weekend in a black satin gown with spaghetti straps and dangling diamond earrings. Caleb Moore Freundlich, a 28-year-old musician, married his long-term partner Kibriyaá Morgan at The Roundhouse in Beacon, New York. The ceremony brought together the couple’s families and a group of close friends.
The 65-year-old Oscar winner shared a video of the ceremony on Instagram on 12 October. It showed the couple walking back down the aisle as guests threw flowers, with Moore watching from behind. “This happened!!! We love love love you,” she wrote. Caleb replied in the comments with an enthusiastic message of his own, and congratulations came from Kelly Ripa, Naomi Watts, Katie Couric, Reese Witherspoon, Tracy Pollan, Leslie Mann and Jessica Capshaw, among many others.
Moore’s daughter Liv, 24, posted her own photographs from the day. One was a selfie with her mother, in which Liv wore an olive green satin dress that sat neatly beside Moore’s black gown. Other images showed Bart Freundlich, Moore’s husband since 2003, giving a toast to the newlyweds, with Moore appearing emotional as he spoke. The family pictures gave a rare look at the actress in a private setting rather than on a red carpet.
Caleb and Kibriyaá met at college and began dating in 2017, which means they marked nine years together this year. They announced their engagement in August 2024. Moore, known for films including Still Alice and Crazy, Stupid, Love, has spoken in the past about bringing her children to work. She has recalled that Caleb, then aged three, was with her for the entire shoot of The Hours, alongside Nicole Kidman and Meryl Streep. She has said he would not fall asleep until she was in bed with him, and that he disliked her pregnant character, knocking on her belly as if trying to remove it.
In an interview with The Guardian, Moore said parenting requires a great deal of compartmentalising, and she has also pushed back against questions about age. She said she is often asked about becoming a mother in her late thirties and early forties, and argued that nobody wants to be defined by a number. At her son’s wedding, her outfit choice was classic and understated, letting the couple and the celebration take centre stage. Her daughter’s photographs, meanwhile, offered fans a glimpse of a close family enjoying a long-awaited day.
