Yolanda Hadid is opening up about the devastating health struggles her daughter Bella Hadid continues to endure amid her years-long battle with chronic Lyme disease.
The former Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star, took to Instagram on Thursday to share an emotional series of photos that gave fans an inside look at the 28-year-old supermodel’s most recent flare-up.
In one image Yolanda Hadid is seen tenderly embracing Bella as she lay in a hospital bed, hooked up to several IVs and medical machines. Other snaps showed Bella using an oxygen machine, covered head-to-toe in wet towels to regulate her body temperature, and surrounded by a daunting display of prescription medications.
“As you will understand watching my Bella struggle in silence, has cut the deepest core of hopelessness inside me,” Yolanda wrote in the lengthy caption. “The invisible disability of chronic neurological Lyme disease has been my own journey too, but my pain cannot compare to watching my baby suffer.”
The mother of three described the disease as a relentless battle and praised Bella’s resilience through years of failed treatments and repeated setbacks.
“I admire your bravery and your willingness to keep fighting for health despite the failing protocols and countless setbacks you have faced,” Yolanda continued. “There simply aren’t words big enough for the darkness, the pain, and the unknown hell you’ve lived through since your diagnosis in 2013.”
Yolanda Hadid went on to tell her daughter, “I am so proud of the fighter that you are. You are not alone, I promise to have your back every step of the way, no matter how long this takes. You have fought through another month of treatment and I know God is good, miracles do happen everyday. I pray for your speedy recovery my love.”
Calling Bella Hadid a “survivor” and her “badass warrior,” Yolanda Hadid concluded her post with words of hope: “You will always get back up and fight for better days. I love you so much.”
Bella Hadid herself sparked concern just a day earlier when she shared photos from a hospital bed, apologizing to fans for being “MIA.” Her older sister, Gigi Hadid, quickly left a supportive comment, writing, “I love you! I hope [you] feel as strong and good as u deserve, soon!!!!!!” Yolanda added her own message, calling Bella a “Lyme warrior.”
The Orebella perfume founder has been candid about her ongoing health challenges since revealing her Lyme disease diagnosis in 2013. In August 2023, she posted similar hospital images during a severe flare-up, later reflecting on the experience as one that gave her a new perspective.
“If I had to go through all of this again, to get here, to this exact moment I’m in right now, with all of you, finally healthy, I would do it all again,” Bella wrote at the time. “This 100+ days of Lyme, chronic disease, co-infection treatment, almost 15 years of invisible suffering, was all worth it if I’m able to, God willing, have a lifetime of spreading love from a full cup.”
Bella Hadid also expressed gratitude to her doctor and medical team who have guided her through treatment, assuring fans, “I’ll be back when I’m ready.”
The Hadid family has long faced the devastating effects of Lyme disease. Yolanda herself has spoken openly about her diagnosis, while Bella’s younger brother, Anwar Hadid, was also diagnosed in 2013.
For now, Yolanda says her daughter remains steadfast in her fight. “Bella is not just surviving,” she wrote, “she is teaching us what true courage looks like.”
