Sophie Thatcher, 25, screams for a living — and she is very good at it. The actress earned her unofficial “scream queen” title in her first major role, as Nat in Yellowjackets, when the series premiered in 2021.
Since then, horror has carried her higher: starring opposite Hugh Grant in Heretic and leading Companion alongside Jack Quaid. She is now filming the final season of Yellowjackets in Canada.
But after mastering the genre so quickly, Thatcher admits the fear is starting to feel too easy. “It feels like cheating a little bit,” she says, describing how readily she can hyperventilate and cry on cue — and how she now craves roles that feel closer to real life.
That restlessness is exactly what draws her toward less familiar territory, as she begins looking past the screams that made her name toward work she finds truer to herself.
