Korean actor Lee Joon Gi and Japanese star Sakaguchi Kentaro lead kiDnap GAME, a thriller built around kidnappings that happen at the same moment in seven Asian cities. New stills released ahead of the second episode show both men starting to move against the people behind the crimes. Episode two airs on 13 October at 10pm KST.
The series is set across Seoul, Tokyo, Taipei, Singapore, Bangkok, Naha and Manila. In each city one person receives a different mission, and each must complete it before the others to save the people they love. Only one of the seven can come out alive. The first episode opened with the simultaneous abductions, while the second shows the participants beginning to act. The structure turns the series into a race between strangers who are unaware of each other at first but whose fates are linked by the rules of the game.
Sakaguchi plays Niide Toshiro, a Tokyo detective whose wife has been taken. He starts searching for her alone, but a leak of details from the investigation makes the special investigation team suspect him, and they consider removing him from the case. Rather than step back, he responds by questioning people about a flower shop van marked Atra, which had been spotted waiting near his wife before she disappeared.
Lee plays Han Ki Joo, a doctor in Seoul, who is seen creeping around his hospital at night in the latest stills. The preview for episode two adds a darker turn. Park Dong Guk, played by Lee Seo Hwan, works for a funeral services company and offers to take care of a problem for the doctor. He tells the doctor that if there is something dirty he cannot share with anyone, he should leave it to him, a line that raises fresh questions about what Han Ki Joo’s mission actually involves and how far he is prepared to go to protect his family.
The project stands out for its spread across the region, with a cast and setting that move well beyond a single national market. Lee is known to international audiences for Flower of Evil, and Sakaguchi for What Comes After Love, giving the series recognisable leads in both Korea and Japan. With five more cities and their players still to be explored, the coming episodes are expected to widen the game further.
